WHAT IS A CHIROPRACTIC DOCTOR?

A Chiropractic Doctor specializes in enhancing the health of your spine and central nervous system. Because all of your body’s functions run better with a healthy nervous system, chiropractors have a positive impact on every aspect of your well-being. Chiropractic doctors are the only healers who focus on the movement and function of the human spine. To become a licensed chiropractor, doctors are required to undergo four intense years of post-collegial doctorate studies, complete a year-long internship and pass four rigorous national licensing exams. After all of that marvelous training, we enjoy the wonderful task of helping you experience optimal health through the best natural healing system in the world.

HOW DO I KNOW IF I NEED CHIROPRACTIC CARE?

We all need a healthy, flexible spine in order to sustain optimal well-being. Many people are prompted to seek chiropractic care when they experience decreased mobility, stress, anxiety, chronic pain, trauma or other health challenges. But even when you feel good, chiropractic adjustments can help you improve your well-being and enjoy greater movement, ease and balance. Why settle for average health when chiropractic care can help you achieve exceptional wellness and quality of life?

HOW MUCH DOES CHIROPRACTIC CARE COST?

The first and second visits include an in-depth health consultation, initial spine and nervous system evaluation, and two adjustments, totaling $215. Check for promotions on our website or call our office (415/564-7000) to inquire about special discounts for the initial visit.

After creating the foundation of your care, individual adjustments are $75 each, or you may choose packaged discounts that range from $61 to $68 per adjustment. In addition to making chiropractic care affordable, our plans give you the greatest health benefit by offering you a healing path that is customized to your needs.

DO YOU ACCEPT INSURANCE & FLEXIBLE SPENDING ACCOUNTS?

PPO insurance plans, flexible spending accounts and health savings plans can help cover some of your chiropractic fees. While we are not currently part of any insurance networks, we are experts in creating detailed receipts (called “superbills”) that you can submit to your insurance company for reimbursement. Our Chiropractic Assistant, Lia Carver, is committed to making the process easy and to creating an affordable chiropractic plan for you.

HOW LONG ARE THE VISITS?

The first two visits, which include a thorough health and lifestyle consultation, doctor’s recommendations for your healing plan, spine and nervous system assessment, and two hands-on adjustments, typically last from 45 to 60 minutes. Follow-up adjustments range from 20 to 40 minutes.

WILL I BE SORE AFTER AN ADJUSTMENT?

Sometimes there may be mild soreness after an adjustment, particularly after the first one. There is a profound adage in chiropractic: “You need to feel it in order to heal it.” As we relieve pressure on the nerve pathways, your body will begin to regain the nerve perception and internal awareness that is needed for your body to restore healing and balance. We encourage you to pay attention to these new sensations so you can provide your body with the support it is intuitively seeking. Increased rest and water, healthy food, exercise, stretching and fresh air, are all things that you can give to help your body heal itself.

WHAT HAPPENS DURING THE “OPEN ADJUSTING” SESSIONS?

Our gentle approach to chiropractic involves helping your body deeply relax as the adjustment slowly unfolds. Dr. Kirsten Hill typically adjusts several people together so that she can allow you time to breathe, rest and release tension, as her gentle contacts work their magic in your spine. The adjusting room is a calm, peaceful environment that facilitates healing, and people tend to enjoy a quiet, meditative experience while they are receiving their adjustment. For people who want to ease into the process of community adjustments, we do offer the first visit one-on-one, and we also have one table in a separate room for an enhanced feeling of privacy.

WILL I NEED X-RAYS?

Dr. Hill recommends that people get x-rays only in rare situations where additional information is needed to evaluate the spine. She performs a thorough motion evaluation of your spine on the first visit, and this hands-on assessment gathers a wealth of insight about what is happening in your spine. The health history and hands-on evaluation provide Dr. Hill with a precise, detailed picture of what is needed in order to deliver gentle adjustments and create solid healing changes for your spine and nervous system. Therefore, x-rays are not usually necessary.

HOW OFTEN DO I NEED TO VISIT IN ORDER TO SEE RESULTS?

After observing how your body responds to the first adjustment, Dr. Hill will create a personalized healing plan for you. Your chiropractic healing plan will be discussed with you on your second visit, and it will include recommendations for your chiropractic care and also self-care practices that will support your return to optimal well-being. Often, twice weekly visits are needed in the beginning, and then once your spine and nervous system are functioning at a better level of health, weekly or biweekly (or, in some cases, monthly) visits can keep your body functioning at its optimal best.

WHAT DOES AN ADJUSTMENT FEEL LIKE?

Adjustments usually feel relaxing and restorative. Dr. Hill allows your body ample time to relax before adjusting your spine directly, and all adjustments are delivered according to what is appropriate for your body at the time. Many people are surprised by how gentle chiropractic care can be and feel delighted by the profound healing changes evoked by Dr. Hill’s soothing touch. If there are areas of your body that you are apprehensive about having adjusted, Dr. Hill will take time to communicate with you about your concerns and find a gentle way to create movement and release for those areas of your body.

HOW DO YOU WORK WITH CHILDREN AND PEOPLE WITH DELICATE SPINES?

Because there are many chiropractic techniques, adjustments are tailored to your body’s specific needs. Dance With Life Chiropractic uses a gentle touch to softly heal your spine and reap tremendous healing changes. Children, elderly and people with sensitive or injured spines are adjusted with the lightest of healing touches. Dr. Hill carefully listens to each person’s needs and uses great sensitivity with her hands so that the perfect technique can be delivered with each adjustment.
